Twenty-five individuals have been arrested in Italy for their involvement in arms and drug trafficking. Among those detained is a nun who acted as a liaison between members of the criminal organization and those imprisoned. Additionally, a former FDI (Fratelli d’Italia) councilor from the city of Brescia has also been apprehended.
The mafia group, originating from the ‘Ndrangheta, was linked to the Tripodi gang operating in the Brescia area.
The nun, Sister Anna Donelli, played a key role in maintaining communication with imprisoned members of the clan, serving as a connection point for the organization.
They were placed under house arrest, while others were given alternative security measures following the conclusion of the investigations by the Police and the Financial Police.
Among those involved or somehow connected to the group were former Brescia city councilor Giovanni Acri, who had ties to the IHD operation, as well as Mauro Galeazzi, a former representative of the League in Castel Mella.
