Death of 61-Year-Old in Korçë: Family Protests, Claims Doctors Killed Her

Family of 61-Year-Old Tatjana Dajko, Who Died Three Days Ago, Accuses Doctors in Korçë Regional Hospital

The family of 61-year-old Tatjana Dajko, who passed away three days ago, has leveled accusations against the doctors at Korçë Regional Hospital.

They claim that the medical staff did not provide their mother with the necessary care.

The family has also filed a criminal complaint, alleging negligence by doctors A.D. and G.R.

Tatjana’s daughter, Klotina Topulli, told the media: “My brother took our mother at 9:50 and brought her to the hospital emergency room. Mom had chest tightness and pain between her shoulder blades. They took her there, measured her blood pressure and oxygen levels. They gave her a sedative and placed a tablet under her tongue.

She lay there for 10 minutes and they told her to get up because someone else had arrived, and to sit on the benches in the emergency corridor. She sat there, waited a bit, and then went to the door of the doctor and said: ‘Will you measure my blood pressure again?’ The doctor told her to leave because she had nothing, only anxiety and stress.

When she left the hospital door, she felt worse. When she got home, she said she felt even worse from the medication, she didn’t feel well.

We saw she was getting worse, around 7:30 PM we called the ambulance, and seeing that the ambulance was also slow… we took our own car and brought her.

By the time we reached the hospital door, mom had died. She had hemorrhages from her nose and mouth. How can they say she died from unknown or natural causes when we brought her to the hospital at 9:50?

The state needs to take action, may no one have the same fate as my mother from these doctors.

She suffered from nothing, she was 61 years old, she turned that age on the day she died.

They did nothing in the hospital, when I entered at 7:30 PM, my mother was already dead when she entered the hospital door, and they started to perform an EKG.

I yelled loudly for them to review the cameras. Where was the EKG then, why wasn’t it done when she was alive?

They did nothing, they made it worse.”

“The mother of the 14-year-old girl who gave birth in Korçë declares: ‘I got married when I was 12 years old too. What are these laws in Albania, allowing the groom to go free…'”

“The girl has fallen in love and we have agreed. I want the groom to come out as soon as possible.

This is how we got married. We were young. I also got married at the age of 12. For us, age is not a problem; in our community, we marry young. We married our daughter willingly.

We are from Elbasan and we married our daughter in Korçë willingly. I want the groom to come out as soon as possible. He works and supports his wife.

When the child was born, the police were notified about the case. In the hospital, the girl was accompanied by her husband.”

It’s a Shame / Look at the Condition of the Sports Field!

Korça is one of the cities that boasts a considerable number of sports grounds, but no matter how many we have, it’s never enough—especially when it comes to spaces where children can train.

The field you see in the photo is the sports field of “Fan S. Noli” University. For years, this field served as a place where students trained or played, as did the Skënderbeu teams, among others. But if you look at it today, it’s overgrown with grass, and only animals roam freely.

With a sports facility of this size, any city would be envious. Today, no one seems willing to take responsibility for changing the situation. If it’s under the university’s ownership, why such negligence, especially when we have a department dedicated to training Physical Education teachers?

It doesn’t matter whether there are funds or not, because they can be found if there’s a little desire and vision. We hope that the leaders, whoever they may be, who have access to this field, will think about and change this dire situation.
