Greek cuisine has been ranked the best among the “100 Best Cuisines in the World” by Taste Atlas, surpassing popular contenders like Italy and Spain.
With a score of 4.6 out of 5, Greece claimed the top spot, followed by Italy in second place (4.59/5), Mexico in third (4.52/5), and Spain in fourth (4.5/5).
Among Balkan countries, Serbia achieved the highest ranking at 15th place, noted for its traditional dish pleskavica. Croatia came 17th, Romania 24th, Bulgaria 33rd, North Macedonia 47th, Bosnia and Herzegovina 68th, Montenegro 83rd, and Albania near the bottom at 96th place with its signature dish, tavë kosi (baked lamb and yogurt casserole).
Taste Atlas is an online experimental database that catalogs traditional dishes and local ingredients. It gathers authentic recipes, food critic reviews, and research articles. This year’s rankings are based on 477,287 ratings for 15,478 foods in the Taste Atlas database, combining expert opinions with user feedback.
