With sorrow, we have learned the heartbreaking news of the passing of the esteemed academic, Mr. Kopi Kyçyku, honored with the title “Honor of the Korçë District.”
An academic, engineer, historian, writer, journalist, and translator, Kopi Kyçyku was born in Pogradec on June 30, 1943. He completed his studies at the University of Tirana in the Faculty of Geology and Mining.
Throughout his career, he held various positions in local administration, radio and television, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Academy of Sciences of Albania. He authored numerous volumes, including poetry, satire, historical monographs, and essays.
A prolific translator, he rendered significant works of world literature and culture into Albanian and vice versa. He was a member of several international scientific organizations. Since 1998, he co-founded and co-led the European journal Haemus and served as the Chair of the Albanian Cultural Association bearing the same name.
In recognition of his contributions, the Korçë District Council awarded him the title “Honor of the District” in 2019.
