Gvozdenovic “attributes” the loss to…

After last night’s match against Tirana at “Air Albania,” coach Ivan Gvozdenovic analyzed the game, notably stating, “It’s my responsibility.” Although it’s unclear what exactly he meant by this, it seems to relate to the team’s concession of two goals that he described as naive. It appears that the issue of conceding such goals is a recurring theme, as pointed out by the coach.

Highlighting one aspect is important, but the other aspect involves taking measures to eliminate these issues. It will be up to Gvozdenovic in the upcoming matches to address this moment he has identified himself.

LAST NIGHT’S MATCH TIRANA-SKËNDERBEU / The white and red team missed out on 1 penalty

The match yesterday was weak in terms of officiating by referee Enea Jorgji and his assistants. It was a subpar performance, as the top referee in Albania failed to recognize a penalty from just five meters away, not to mention other situations that compromised his assistants. Yesterday, the VAR officials were Kreshnik Bajramaj and Kreshnik Cjapi.

MINUTE 18: Haxhiu accelerates toward the opponent’s area, but Vangjeli makes a decisive intervention, saving his team. This was a fair play, as Vangjeli cleanly took the ball, and there was no penalty.

MINUTES 34-38: Rashica is brought down in the box after a run from the left. Enea Jorgji shows a yellow card for simulation to the attacker, but later he is called to review the footage with VAR due to contact with Haxhiu. After watching the replay, he changes his mind, awarding a penalty and rescinding the yellow card. It was a mistake by Jorgji; even though he was close, he initially failed to see the penalty, then issued a yellow for simulation, and ultimately reversed his decisions to award the penalty. This is inexcusable.

MINUTE 45+3: A cross into Skënderbeu’s area leads the home team to claim a penalty for a hold on Rashica by Meta and for a handball in the box by Vaskez. However, Jorgji signals for play to continue. In the case of Meta-Rashica, the decision was correct, as both players were holding each other. In the case of Vaskez, there was a handball, but the defender had likely touched the ball with his head first, or at least that was the view presented. Given the footage, the decision was right, although doubt still exists.

MINUTE 69: Kola passes back to Selmani, who gets confused and nearly allows the ball to go into the net. The goalkeeper stops the ball just before it completely crosses the goal line. The footage is again not very clear; the first angle suggests it’s a goal, while other angles lack clarity. Both the referee and VAR call it no goal. A very dubious situation.

MINUTE 84: After a cross into the box, Rashica fails to shoot, claiming he was pulled back by Ismajli’s shirt. Play continues, and VAR confirms the on-field decision. VAR determined that Rashica was offside at that moment. A correct decision by the referee.

MINUTE 90: Krasniqi breaks into the box and, after two contacts—first with Meta and then with Gjumsin—falls down. Jorgji allows play to continue. VAR reviews the footage but the referee signals for play to continue. Although VAR has certified the referee’s decision, the general opinion is that it was a penalty. A mistake by the officials. It could have been the equalizing penalty.

The white and red fans react: “It’s about the judgment…

Skënderbeu suffered a loss against Tirana, but it seems that the refereeing also had an impact. At the very least, the Skënderbeu officials should have reacted, especially since the own goal by goalkeeper Selmani should have been reviewed by the VAR system. In response, the fans have expressed their opinions on “Korça Boom.”

Pandi: “Tirana should thank the referee for the win.”
Astriti: “Tirana didn’t do anything more than Skënderbeu; they should thank the referee.”
Safeti: “Shame on Tirana for winning unjustly because of a referee who considers himself international.”
Dhimitraqi: “In the VAR system, that moment wasn’t called; the ball crossed the line, but they said not to give it.”
Xhemali: “Skënderbeu was better than the opponent.”
Vangjushi: “Tirana wins with comebacks and with Enea.”
Stavri: “Every time Enea referees, Skënderbeu usually loses.”

A recurring phenomenon with foreigners…

In the Albanian championship, foreigners, particularly from poorer countries, are flooding in. Many players arrive without a clear history of where they’ve played, their previous engagements, or their current health status.

Managers often try to place them wherever they can, even in lower divisions, hoping they can move up a level. The concern about their age is indeed troubling. While they claim to be 18 or 19, verification often shows they are older and sometimes possess irregular documentation.

Although there is now a control system in place, issues still arise in their countries of origin, and with so many names, they have the opportunity to “hide”.

Gvozdenović this time with pen in hand; here’s the decision…

Korça’s coach Ivan Gvozdenović, along with his team, has wrapped up another training session, just three days ahead of the next match. Observing the training sessions over the past few days, it has been somewhat difficult to determine the lineup for this game.

While a significant percentage of the formation is known, there are still many uncertainties from the coach’s side. He will assess until the last moment who is in the best shape and what tactics will be employed.

There are also expected changes in both the defense and midfield. The extent of these changes remains to be seen, but it is certain that adjustments will be made. Ultimately, the final decision will be communicated to the players on Sunday.

Here’s what the white and red fans wish for their opponent…

Skënderbeu will face Tirana, a rival yet to taste victory, having only drawn matches. Korça fans seem to be seizing this moment for Tirana.

In many comments on ‘Korça Boom,’ there’s a unified expression: ‘Tirana will suffer its first loss now.’ While Tirana aims for its first win, the Korçars are responding with thoughts of handing them that first defeat.

It will be a match where both teams are playing solely for the three points, as that’s what matters. Nevertheless, all three outcomes are possible on the field, and we’ll have to wait for match day to learn the result.

Devolli pulls the ‘ear’ of the foreigners, a reaction is expected

Devolli team earned a draw in the first week against Turbina, a match that should have been a victory.

It seems that the foreign players were the ones who fell short, as they squandered numerous opportunities and didn’t meet the expectations of coach Trifon Meraku.

In recent days, president Spartak Meraku has been quite demanding of them, naturally urging them to reflect before the next match. The situation is quite different for the other players, who delivered a strong performance, which is very positive.
