Albania faces Ukraine tomorrow, coaches Silvinho & Ramadani: The group is tough, but we want to start well

Albania will face Ukraine tomorrow, September 7th, in their first Nations League match, at 20:45 at the “Epet Arena” stadium. Ahead of this crucial fixture, Albanian coach Silvinho and midfielder Ylber Ramadani spoke at a press conference this afternoon.

Coach Silvinho’s remarks:

  • Objective and Approach:
“The main goal for this match is to achieve a positive result and play with the same spirit and heart as we did in the European qualifiers. Ukraine is a very strong team with high-quality players.”
  • Impact of Squad Changes:
“It’s common to have such changes in national teams. It’s a challenging moment since players return after the European Championship with varying levels of preparation. We need to work through these situations. We’ve had similar issues before, but it’s an opportunity for other players to step up.”
  • Arbër Hoxha:
“All players are ready, which is what we want. We have another training session this afternoon and a light session tomorrow morning. Arbër Hoxha hasn’t started a match yet as a starter, but he is very important for the national team.”
  • Match Against Ukraine:
“Ukraine is part of a tough group with all teams having performed well in the European Championship. They are well-organized, physically strong, and technically skilled. We need to handle them physically and tactically.”
  • Transfer Market Satisfaction:
“We continuously monitor our players. After the European Championship, players had vacations and were under market pressure. We are happy with how things are going and the focus of the players on the team.”
  • Enthusiasm of Players Not in the European Championship:
“National teams are open to everyone, and players come with a strong desire to represent their country. Motivation is not an issue; we’ve had four days of training and the players are very motivated.”
  • Tactical Adjustments:
“We have used different formations like 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. We adapt our tactics based on player characteristics. We might use a 4-4-2 formation as well.”
  • Prediction for the Match:
“It’s hard to predict the match. It will be technical, open, and with quick transitions from both sides. Ukraine has fast and technically strong players. We also have quality and counter-attacking abilities. I expect an exciting game.”
  • Dealing with Squad Changes:
“We faced a similar situation in Warsaw without Ismajli and Gjimshiti. Now, we’re without Ajeti and Gjimshiti, but other players can adapt. The national team is open to everyone, and it’s an opportunity to perform well.”
  • Expectations from the Match:
“In the previous qualifiers, a draw was enough, but no coach is satisfied with just a draw. We aim to win and work towards that. Even though we’re missing key players, we’ll put in a strong performance to get the best possible result.”
  • Evaluation of Ukraine Post-European Championship:
“The group is very strong and challenging. All teams performed well in the European Championship. Nations League requires a different strategy. Even with the challenges, players must give their best and perform at their highest level.”

Midfielder Ylber Ramadani also expressed readiness and determination for the match, emphasizing the importance of starting the campaign positively.

Here are the three “pillars” of support for victory against Egnatia for the Korçars…

“God is with us. We will play strong and manage the situation,” these are the three points that Gvozdenovic wants on his side tomorrow against Egnatia.

The coach is known to be a strong believer and has great faith in divine assistance. However, it seems that this time a beautiful game alone won’t be enough; a very strong performance will be needed to defeat the opponent. But perhaps what is more important is the need to effectively manage game situations, as these have often troubled the Korçars.

Therefore, it appears that individual mistakes must be managed both by the players and as a group.

Gvozdenovic: We need points now. I believe we can succeed against Egnatia

A day before the match against Egnatia, Skënderbeu’s coach, Ivan Gvozdenovic, held a press conference, expressing his strong belief that his players will take the field to secure maximum points from this match.

“We haven’t had consistency so far; we don’t have results. We have other aspects, but what matters now are the points. We don’t need to play beautifully or talk a lot; we only need the points. In our last matches against Partizani, Dinamo, and Tirana, we were ahead 1-0, then 2-1 down to Tirana. We drew 1-1 with Dinamo and lost 2-1 to them. The responsibility and confidence must improve for us,” he said.

Gvozdenovic praised Egnatia highly but noted that the visitors are also facing problems at this stage. In conclusion, the Skënderbeu coach expressed confidence that this time the team will return to winning ways.

“Egnatia is a good, strong team, but that’s the situation. They also have issues after two consecutive losses. It will be a tough and challenging match. We are ready; today we have our last training session. Juri and Tare have joined the team in training. We will see how it goes.

Every team aims for victory, and so does Skënderbeu. I’m 100% sure we will field a team with positive confidence, and then we will see how we perform and discuss more tomorrow. We will play strongly, manage the situation, and with God’s help, we will come away with a positive result,” Gvozdenovic declared.

The white and reds “rub” their hands for the last match of the stage in Ballsh

Although it seems distant, the last match that concludes the first phase is approaching, and the Korçars are already thinking about it. This weekend will be their penultimate match against Egnatia and the final match against Bylis.

The Disciplinary Commission has sanctioned this team with two matches behind closed doors, which works to the advantage of the Korçars, as it won’t feel like an away game. The opponent will not have the support of their fans, which is very positive and presents a great opportunity to earn full points.

However, it’s important to remember that matches are approached one at a time, as the competition continues and the whole journey ahead of the team is being considered.
