Broke Mike Tyson’s record, the world boxing champion passes away suddenly

Date:

Paul Bamba, the 35-year-old world boxing champion, has passed away.

Bamba recently became the cruiserweight champion this year and was rumored to face Jake Paul or Tommy Fury in a potential bout. Just last weekend, he clinched the title by defeating Rogelio Medina.

In doing so, he broke Mike Tyson’s record for the most knockout wins in a calendar year, achieving 14. Over the course of his career, Bamba held a record of 19 wins and 3 losses.

He was a close friend of pop star NE-YO and the first signee to NE-YO’s management company.

In a joint statement, NE-YO and Bamba’s family said:
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, friend, and boxing champion Paul Bamba, whose light and love touched countless lives.

He was a fierce competitor with an unyielding ambition to achieve greatness. Yet above all, he was an extraordinary individual who inspired many with his remarkable drive and determination.

We are heartbroken by his passing and kindly request privacy and understanding during this difficult time as we collectively grieve.”
