DVP KorçëThe police operation code named "Midnight 27" targeting the criminal activity of aiding foreign nationals in illegal border crossing for payment has concluded.A 44-year-old man who refused to obey police orders to stop his vehicle, which was transporting 5 immigrants during the night, has been apprehended.Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accomplice of the 44-year-old, who was a passenger in the vehicle.A "BMW" vehicle, a cellphone, and a sum of money obtained from this activity have been seized.Specialists from the Illegal Trafficking and Narcotics Investigation Unit, in collaboration with the Traffic Police Services of DVP Korçë, based on intelligence gathered, organized and concluded an operation.During the night, near Pogradec, the vehicle driven by the 44-year-old was signaled to stop. He did not comply but continued moving. Police immediately pursued, stopped the vehicle in the village of Qukës, Librazhd, and arrested the individual. Another passenger, taking advantage of the darkness, managed to escape. Efforts continue to apprehend him.In the "BMW" vehicle driven by the suspect, there were 5 immigrants from third countries being transported for payment by the two individuals, with the intention to illegally cross the border to EU countries.The procedural materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korçë for further action.
