Egnatia seems to have lost some of the strength it had last season when it dominated every opponent, but it’s a fact that the absences affected their performance against Partizani, particularly in defense. Arbenit Xhemajli was not in the squad due to injury.
For the same reason, Dylis and Fangaj did not play, although the latter were at least on the bench. Coach Tetova likely chose not to take any risks, saving both players for the upcoming match against Skënderbeu in Korçë. There are hopes that Dylis and Fangaj will be ready for this away game, which is a relief for the technical staff. However, this week, the reigning champions still face several absences.
AHMETAJ – Midfielder Alesandro Ahmetaj, who has been a starter in recent matches, will not be able to play against Skënderbeu due to suspension from yellow cards. The yellow card he received against Partizani last Friday was his fourth, meaning he will miss the match in week 8. Ahmetaj scored 2 goals in the significant victory against Bylis and was having a good performance, but now he faces this enforced break. Egnatia actually has alternatives in midfield. Aleksi, who played in defense, is expected to return to his position, while Zejnullai, Lushkja, Ujka, and even Uotlai are available for coach Tetova.
ATTACK – The reigning champions continue to struggle in the attacking department, having scored only 2 goals in 7 matches so far. Vuthaj has managed just one penalty goal, while Xhoel has found the net only once as well. These two have been the starting strikers for Egnatia, and substitutes like Kasa, Drame, and Jahaja have yet to score their first goals of the season.
