Kapshticë, KorçëA 50-year-old man, sentenced by Turkish authorities to 10 years and 2 months in prison for drug production and trafficking, has been apprehended by the Border Police and arrested for extradition purposes.The Border Police, in addition to increasing measures to manage the flow of travelers, have heightened vigilance to combat illegal activities at the border and to stop individuals wanted for arrest from entering or leaving through this checkpoint.In this context, in cooperation with DVP Korçë services and as a result of detailed interviewing and information exchange between Interpol Tirana and their Turkish counterparts, the man was caught at the entrance to Albania and arrested by the Narcotics Investigation Section of DVP Korçë for extradition to Turkey. The individual is:Mehmet Akman, 50 years old, born in Turkey and residing in the Netherlands.He was internationally wanted after the Istanbul High Court sentenced him to 10 years and 2 months in prison for the criminal offense of “Production and sale of narcotics,” as stipulated by the Turkish Penal Code.Procedures for the 50-year-old’s extradition to Turkey are ongoing.
