New details have emerged regarding a €14 million extortion plot targeting Michael Schumacher and his family.
German police have initiated an investigation into the Formula 1 legend’s former bodyguard, along with two others accused of threatening the ex-racer’s family.
One of the alleged masterminds behind this disturbing plot is Markus F., a former bodyguard who was part of Schumacher’s inner circle for over eight years. Michael’s wife, Corinna, had trusted him as a reliable aide, granting him access to the family’s private affairs.
Earlier this year, the relationship between Markus and the Schumacher family deteriorated significantly after Corinna Schumacher was forced to dismiss him due to changes in her husband’s care arrangements.
This dismissal reportedly left Markus feeling resentful, leading him to allegedly devise a scheme to extort the Schumacher family, according to MailOnline.
Having access to confidential information about the health and well-being of the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, Markus is believed to have planned to leak these details on the dark web.
Since Michael Schumacher’s skiing accident in 2013, Corinna has taken extensive measures to keep his health status private.
Markus’s thwarted plot involved stealing 1,500 sensitive documents from the Schumacher family home. These files reportedly included photos, videos, medication records, and even Schumacher’s patient dossier.
According to BILD, this material was allegedly transferred onto four USB drives and two disks in the days leading up to Markus’s dismissal.
