A massive fire engulfed a residential building last night in neighborhood no. 4 of Pogradec, on “Gani Homçani” street. Upon receiving the alert, emergency forces from MZSH Pogradec quickly arrived at the scene with one vehicle initially, followed by two more, while a fourth vehicle was dispatched from the Municipality of Maliq.
Firefighters, along with the police and local residents, promptly evacuated the residents, including an 80-year-old man who was inside the burning building. The team then focused on containing, isolating, and completely extinguishing the fire.
The blaze was large and dangerous, but firefighters worked tirelessly to minimize damages, prevent injuries, and stop the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
The fire has now been extinguished, and the civil emergency team will conduct legal procedures in the morning to facilitate compensation for the affected residents. Commendations go to the firefighters, police, and everyone who helped avert a more severe situation.
A public call is being made to all residents to take precautions, particularly during this season, by cleaning their chimneys. Many fires are caused by neglected chimney maintenance.
