A 12-year-old boy from the village of Pocestë in the municipality of Maliq passed away yesterday at the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center.
The news was reported by the director of the school in Vashtemi, where the young boy was a 7th-grade student.
Sources from the school mentioned that there are suspicions that the 12-year-old may have passed away due to cardiac issues, but an official forensic report is awaited to determine the cause of death.
According to the same sources, the 12-year-old was initially treated at the regional hospital in Korça, but due to his serious condition, doctors there urgently transferred him to the University Hospital Center.
This is not the first case of suspected cardiac-related deaths among young people in the Korça district. Recently, three other deaths were registered, including a 16-year-old in Korça, a 17-year-old in Pogradec, and another case in the city of Erseka, where a 15-year-old passed away outside of school premises.
