This Monday, at the order of SPAK, the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, was arrested. The head of the PL has appeared several times before the Special Prosecutor’s Office to be questioned regarding the CEZ-DIA case.
Ilir Meta served as President of Albania from July 24, 2017, to July 24, 2022. Previously, he served as Prime Minister from 1999 to 2002. He was also the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament from 2013 to 2017. Meta has held positions as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Economy, Trade, and Energy.
Before this, he chaired the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration. Meta founded the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) in 2004, now the Freedom Party, which he leads.
