Luiza Gega has achieved an extraordinary success in the Tirana Marathon, setting a national record in this eighth edition of the race. She expressed her emotions after finishing, highlighting that it was a double challenge for her, as she had recently overcome a severe flu.
“I started with fear because I didn’t know how long I would be able to maintain my pace,” said Gega.
“As the final kilometers approach, the body goes into shock. Running in Tirana is a pleasure in itself. The people cheering for you along the way give you a strength you didn’t think you had.”
Gega, who has participated in this marathon for the eighth time, emphasized the importance of the community that supports her in her sporting adventures. “I have people who support me in what I do. This marathon is different from any other race I participate in,” she noted.
Participants and fans were excited about Luiza Gega’s achievement, as she continues to be a role model for the youth and sports enthusiasts in Albania. This record is yet another testament to her dedication and talent in athletics.
