"2 Years Since the Promise for the New 'Skënderbeu' Stadium / When Will the Construction Work Begin?

On May 2, 2023, in the southeastern city of Korça, the project for the new "Skënderbeu" stadium was presented, causing a lot of buzz at the time. Even Prime Minister Edi Rama attended the event to present the winning design studio.

Today, two years have passed, and once again, all the promises and the excitement remain on paper. The new "Skënderbeu" stadium is nowhere to be seen on the horizon, and there has not been even an attempt to start construction. People in the southeast no longer believe this project will be realized.

This is the umpteenth time a new stadium has been promised for Korça, and once again, it is tied to electoral campaigns or promises made simply to create a buzz, because in reality, the fans are tired of these empty promises.

In fact, on May 2, 2023, the images of how the new stadium would look were also presented, and in 2024, it was said that construction work would begin. Today, we are approaching May 2025, and still, nothing new.

For nostalgia’s sake, we are sharing below the photos of the winning design studio. They are beautiful images, but they are just for show because in Korça, no one knows when they will actually enjoy a modern stadium.

Meanwhile, neither the Municipality nor the Prime Minister himself has said a word about when construction will start, probably because they don't know when they will fulfill their promise either.

Rightfully, the white-and-red fans say: "Enough with the lies!"
