“To Korça, a word of love” by Skënder Rusi

I live in a heart-shaped city, Where guitars go wild at night! Where boys can’t help but wink, And girls love to tease with delight!

I live in a city that dozes off, And wakes up on the shoulder of a mountain. Where the sun, before it begins its journey, Takes a little rest on a soldier’s shoulder!

I live in a city that intoxicates me, Not with vodka, but with love! Where every woman, when she looks at you, Follows you with her eyes when you don’t see!

I live in a city that forgives me, For all the craziness I have done! And what can I hide? I too am a sinner, So I ask for forgiveness, just like everyone does!

I live in a city that I love, Within its crystal heart! And I fear, will I ever manage, To offer it fame from my own renown!

I live in a city where tomorrow I will have, For sure, the name of a street! If you ask me whom I would choose, I would tell you this, That in place of stones, it’s paved with kisses.
