At the “Fan S. Noli” University, a symposium: Greek Language: A Bridge of Cultures in the Past and Present!

The theme of the symposium held today at the “Fan S. Noli” University, on the occasion of the International Greek Language Day, was “The Greek Language: A Bridge of Cultures in the Past and Present.”
The symposium was organized by the Office of the Education Coordinator, in collaboration with the Department of Language and Literature, UNIKO, and the Greek Language Institute “Timenos” of the University of Western Macedonia.
The meeting was initially greeted by the rector of UNIKO, Prof. Dr. Lorenc Ekonomi, who praised it as the essence of academic cooperation and cultural dialogue, which brought together scholars from the University of Western Macedonia, Aristotle University, and professors from “Fan S. Noli” University.
“This symposium is proof of the growing academic cooperation through mutual studies and joint projects. In this spirit, the relationships between UNIKO and both these universities have been a model of this collaboration. We would like to expand cooperation with Greek universities within the framework of European projects, faculty, staff, and student mobilities, and in the future, we hope for joint, double diplomas in all three cycles.”
Next, the Vice-Rector of the University of Western Macedonia, Prof. Eleni Griva, also greeted the meeting and presented the topic: “The Historical Contribution of the Greek Language and the Challenges/Perspectives for Strengthening It on the Global Map.”
The General Consul of Greece in Korça, Mr. Nikolaos Yotopoulos, and the Education Coordinator for Albania at this Consulate, Mr. Georgios Mpestias, also wished success to the symposium.
The Dean of the Faculty of Education and Philology, UNIKO, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Jonela Spaho, greeted the meeting and then presented the topic: “Greek Poet Yannis Ricos and His Contribution to World Literature.”
Emeritus Professor Anna Anastasiadi-Symeonidi from Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, presented the topic: “Ancient Greek Language and International Scientific Terminology.”
The meeting, which also included the teaching staff and students of the Greek school “Omiros” in Korça, continued with the presentation of the topic “A World Between Two Cultures: Echoes of Greek Female Poetry in the Albanian Language” by the Head of the Department of Language and Literature, UNIKO, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Eris Rusi. Prof. Assoc. Eleni Korosidu also presented her topic: “Strengthening the Teaching of Greek in Digital Environments: Materials and Applications for Young Learners.”
The symposium continued with the topic: “Nikos Kazantzakis: His Life and Literary Work,” by UNIKO lecturer Dr. Ilir Shyta. Later, the PhD candidate at the University of Western Macedonia, Chrysanthi Markou, presented the topic: “Creating Digital Intercultural ‘Bridges’ Between the Bilingual Schools of ‘Omiros’ and the Experimental Primary School of Florina.”
The event was also accompanied by poetry readings from Greek poets, interpreted and accompanied by musical notes by students of the Greek school “Omiros.”
