Fifty years ago, the great actor, “People’s Artist” and “Honor of the Nation,” Naim Frashëri, passed away

On February 18, 1975, in Tirana, the renowned Albanian actor Naim Frashëri passed away.

We remember him with honor and respect.

He began his professional acting career in early 1945, but his love for theater emerged as early as 1942. Naim successfully played a series of leading and memorable roles, including Valeri in Tartuffe, Smith in The Russian Case, Gjoni in The Brave Man with Many Friends, Selimi in The Fisherman’s Family, the General in The General of the Dead Army, Leka in The Përkolgjinajs, Nikolla in The Enemies, Sasha Ribakov in The Kremlin Hours, Luben in The Leipzig Trial, Ferdinand in Intrigue and Love, Howard in Deep Roots, and Hamlet in Hamlet.

Jonuz Bruga in The Fisherman’s Family was his 80th and final role. He also played eight roles in feature films. Naim Frashëri was honored with numerous titles and awards and remains one of the greatest icons of Albanian theater.
