Three people were reported missing today after sudden flooding from a storm in the southeastern Swiss town of Misox in the alpine valley of Graubünden.

A sudden storm caused rivers to overflow and flood several residential roads, while authorities said they had carried out evacuations from homes. Three local residents were still missing as of this morning.

In the west, the alpine resort of Zermatt is reported to be isolated by rising waters.

Images of the town situated at the foot of the famous Matterhorn mountains showed waters rushing through the streets since Friday.

Some train services were suspended between Visp and Zermatt, while the road between Täsch and Zermatt was closed, temporarily leaving the resort inaccessible, writes BBC.

The government of the canton of Graubünden said it was monitoring the situation with concern and thanked the emergency services for their work and readiness.
