Gjon Mili (1904-1984) was an Albanian photographer and innovator who revolutionized the art of photography through the use of light and shutter speed. Born in Korçë and later settled in the United States, he became renowned for his experiments with “light painting” techniques, using light as a brush to create unique images. Mili was also the first to synchronize the photoflash with the shutter, allowing him to capture spontaneous expressions. He presented approximately 100 slides of his photographs and three short films.

Regarding his professionalism, Mili stated: “It was a good life when I think about the people I met, the events I witnessed, the ideas I still carry, and finally, the images that have gained a lasting reality.”

The Gjon Mili Photography Museum preserves his legacy and invites visitors to explore the history and innovations that made him one of the most distinguished names in world photography.
