Princess Kate and Prince William have shared a relationship spanning over two decades, but their engagement came only after a long wait. The two met at university, starting as friends before becoming a couple. After many years together, Prince William proposed to Kate in 2010, over nine years after their first meeting.
In an interview with The Sun Royal Exclusive, renowned royal photographer Arthur Edwards revealed the reason behind the delayed proposal. He shared that he once asked Prince William why he had waited so long to propose to Kate. The Prince of Wales explained that he needed to complete several important commitments first, including his military service, as he was preparing for his future role as head of the British Armed Forces. Additionally, William needed to attend business school, leaving little time to consider an earlier engagement.
William emphasized that he wanted to ensure his relationship with Kate could withstand the test of time and the demands of his obligations before taking such a significant step.
