Attempted to assist in illegally crossing the border by hiding a person in the car trunk. The police arrested the driver of the vehicle and released a 20-year-old, who was found hidden in the trunk, under investigation.
A vehicle and two mobile phones were seized.
The services of the Korçë Local Directorate for Border and Migration, in addition to measures to handle the traffic flow and eliminate queues, have intensified checks at crossing points and along the green border to prevent and combat cross-border crimes and apprehend law violators.
In this context, the Border Police services at Qafë Thanë Border Crossing Point subjected a “BMW” vehicle, driven by a 25-year-old citizen identified as M. Ç., to a second-line check. During the inspection, a 20-year-old citizen identified as A. B. was found hidden in the trunk of the vehicle, attempting to cross the border illegally.
Following the investigative procedures, M. Ç., 25, a resident of Prrenjas, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of “Assisting in Illegal Border Crossing.” Meanwhile, A. B., 20, also a resident of Prrenjas, was placed under investigation for the criminal offense of “Illegal Border Crossing.”
The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Korçë for further legal action.
