New details have emerged from the serious accident that occurred last night in the village of Zëmblak, on the “Korçë-Bilisht” road axis. Preliminary investigations reveal that both vehicles were speeding beyond the allowed limits.
According to the information, it is suspected that the driver of the Peugeot vehicle made an incorrect maneuver. Based on his statement to the police, he claimed that an animal suddenly appeared in front of him, causing him to swerve in order to avoid hitting it.
This maneuver turned out to be fatal, as the vehicle collided head-on with a Mercedes-Benz traveling in the opposite lane.
The impact was very strong, resulting in the immediate death of 24-year-old Zoi Ksila, a passenger in the Peugeot vehicle.
The two young people were living in Thessaloniki, and it is reported that they had come to Albania to celebrate the New Year holidays.
The victim’s body will be sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tirana, as they will be responsible for the examination due to her being a foreign national.
Investigations are still ongoing by the police to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident.
