SKËNDERBEU / Here’s where they were last year and where they stand this season! 5 points missing…

The recent loss to Egnatia has certainly not been well received in the southeastern city, as Skënderbeu is officially in a results crisis, which is clearly reflected in the current standings of this super league.

After the first 8 weeks and a 10-day break due to the national team gathering, it seems this pause will benefit the red-and-whites, who certainly need to regroup moving forward.

With one match remaining before the end of the first phase, we bring our readers a comparison with last year, when they had also completed the first 8 weeks.

Last year’s Skënderbeu, after 8 weeks, was in fourth place with 12 points, having recorded 4 wins and 4 losses. They were only 4 points away from first place and had conceded 8 goals while scoring 6.

In contrast, today, at the same point in this season, after week 8, Skënderbeu has only 7 points in the standings, missing 5 points compared to last year. Today, Skënderbeu is in 8th place in the super league, in the danger zone, with 8 points less than the leader and 4 points more than the last place. This season’s Skënderbeu has scored more goals than last year, with a total of 9 goals, but has also conceded more, totaling 12 goals. With 2 wins, 1 draw, and 5 losses, this season’s Skënderbeu is certainly not the same as last year’s, but the missing points are crucial.

We have also included the standings of last year’s Skënderbeu after week 8 and this year’s Skënderbeu after the same week. You can make the comparison yourself…

Season 2023-2024

Skënderbeu: 12 points (6-8) 4 wins, 0 draws, 4 losses

Season 2024-2025

Skënderbeu: 7 points (9-12) 2 wins, 1 draw, 5 losses

SKËNDERBEU: 11 days to prepare for Bylisi!

This break seems to have come at the right moment for Skënderbeu, as after negative results, this mini-phase will help the white and reds to change and find their proper rhythm.

In the last 5 matches, the team has recorded 4 losses and only 1 win, which has placed Skënderbeu in 8th position in the standings with only 7 points.

Skënderbeu has already started training sessions in the southeastern city, and the coaching staff is focusing first on the psychological aspect and then on the physical, so that players who have not been in form can catch the right rhythm by October 20.

The next match will also be the last of the first phase, and Skënderbeu needs to start the new cycle with positive results, while Bylisi is the right duel to move away from the bottom of the standings. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the team from Ballsh will play without the presence of fans due to a ban, which is another advantage for Skënderbeu.

However, there is still a lot of time until October 20, and Skënderbeu needs to calm down and wait for the right moment to begin their journey of positive results.

Currently, there are no injuries, while only the trio from the U-21 national team—Ermir Rashica, Ardit Nikaj, and Dejvid Janaqi—will be absent from the team until October 15.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL: Here comes the derby of the South, Skënderbeu-Pogradeci…

The 5th week of the women’s volleyball super league will feature an exciting match as Skënderbeu hosts Pogradeci at the “Tamara Nikolla” sports hall in what everyone calls the southeastern derby.

Skënderbeu, led by Orlando Koja, will face a Pogradeci team that has just changed its coach and certainly has bigger ambitions this season than last year.

This 5th week comes for Skënderbeu after four consecutive wins, with 12 sets won and 1 lost, while Pogradeci has only 1 victory and had higher expectations.

The Skënderbeu-Pogradeci match will take place on Saturday at 17:00, and it is highly anticipated as it pits neighbors against each other.

In two friendly matches before the start of the championship, Skënderbeu defeated Pogradeci in both encounters, making the victory seem easy on paper. However, on the court, Skënderbeu’s coaching staff will seek not only a win but also an attractive performance.

Skënderbeu is undoubtedly the number one candidate for the trophy, and in the next two weeks, they will play two home matches. After this week, they will host their main rival, Partizani, and it is expected that the sports hall will be packed with fans.

Good luck to Orlando Koja’s girls! Wishing you success in achieving the championship title this season, Skënderbeu…

The Skënderbeu trio/ Rashica-Nikaj-Janaqi join the Albania U-21 training camp

During this time, until October 15th, three players will not be training with Skënderbeu. The talents in the red-and-white camp are numerous, while the usual trio from our national U-21 team comes from Skënderbeu: Ermir Rashica, Ardit Nikaj, and Dejvid Janaqi.

Yesterday, these three talented players were called up by coach Alban Bushi and are set to train for the match on October 15th, when Albania U-21 will host Armenia U-21 at “Air Albania.”

This means that the two forwards, Rashica and Nikaj, along with midfielder Dejvid Janaqi, will only report to coach Ivan Gvozdenoviç after October 15th, prior to the match against Bylis in the league.

Skënderbeu Has Always Had Talented Players in Our National Teams. However, the situation at Skënderbeu after the recent loss is not the best, as the team ranks 8th in the standings after 8 rounds.

We wish the three Skënderbeu players success and hope they honor the red-and-white jersey for Albania U-21. With their return, we hope the situation at Skënderbeu improves as well.

Good luck to Ermir, Ardit, and Dejvid!
