Almost week by week, we have been following Skënderbeu’s performance, comparing it to the previous season, where the team ended with a spot in the Final Four and secured third place in the “Abissnet Superiore.” Now, as 2024 is coming to a close, it’s clear that everyone in the southeastern city is disappointed with Skënderbeu’s current situation.
The disappointment comes from the fact that it took 19 weeks of play, and unlike last year, this season Skënderbeu is at the bottom of the “Abissnet Superiore” table. They are in last place, missing a total of 7 points. Today, we are presenting the current standings after 19 weeks and comparing it to the previous season.
Last season wasn’t a miracle either, but with 22 points at this stage, Skënderbeu was ranked 7th in the table, whereas this season, they are in 10th place. After the second half of last season, Skënderbeu performed excellently, and perhaps this season, we might see a similar turnaround, though it’s still early, with just under half of the season left to play.
Skënderbeu ends 2024 with few points and a fragile psychological state, as being at the bottom wasn’t what anyone expected or predicted. Now, we have to wait until 2025 to see how the season concludes. Despite the pessimism among the fans, the club does not believe that Skënderbeu will drop to a lower division.
In the end, the two spots above them are just 3 points away, and even 7th place is only 5 points ahead. Let’s hope that 2025 will be a year of significant change, but we’ll have to wait and see. The upcoming transfer window will play a key role, as Skënderbeu needs to make significant efforts to achieve their survival goal.
