38-year-old Marco Magagna was stabbed in the chest a day earlier at his home in the province of Monza, Italy. The perpetrator is his partner, 33-year-old Stella Boggio.
The woman grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the man in the chest during a violent argument and then contacted emergency services, according to local media.
The murder occurred during a dispute in their home.
According to neighbors, the couple often quarreled, and shouting was frequently heard from the building, but no complaints were ever filed with the authorities.
One of the hypotheses investigators are working on is that the killing happened after the victim abused the perpetrator.
The woman explained that she had been beaten by her boyfriend and acted in self-defense, stabbing him in the chest with the kitchen knife.
Neighbors Valentina, Claudio, and Tina said:
“We are in shock. We often heard shouting and arguments—they both yelled at each other, and this had been going on for a week now. But we would never have imagined such an outcome. They seemed like calm and cheerful people. She had a child from a previous relationship, but the child probably didn’t live with them. That night, we didn’t hear anything—just the sudden arrival of the police.”
Another neighbor said she often heard shouting:
“Once, I heard her shouting on the phone. I saw her as a shy person, maybe with some issues, but she never told me about them. I am shocked. I never saw her with bruises; otherwise, I would have helped her. I may have seen her stressed and worried, but I would never have imagined this.”
Giovanni Sartori, the mayor of Bovisio Masciago, commented:
“I am deeply saddened and shocked by the events that occurred in Bovisio. I didn’t know the couple and learned of the news late in the morning from the police. This is a terrible incident, and I extend my condolences to the family. If the woman acted in such a way, perhaps it was in a moment of extreme tension, but I do not know the facts, so I cannot say anything further.”
