The “crime league table” in the UK ranks Albanians as the nationality most likely to be arrested, followed by Afghans, Iraqis, Algerians, Moroccans, and Somalis.
According to The Telegraph, foreign nationals are over three times more likely to be arrested for sexual offenses compared to British citizens. Police made over 9,000 arrests of foreign nationals for sexual offenses in the first 10 months of last year in England and Wales. This accounted for 26.1% of the 35,000 total arrests for such crimes during that period, as revealed by an analysis from the Centre for Migration Control using data from police forces, the Home Office, and the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The likelihood of foreign nationals being arrested for sexual offenses was 3.5 times higher than that of British suspects. This equates to approximately 165 arrests per 100,000 people in the immigrant population, compared to 48 arrests per 100,000 among British nationals.
For all types of crimes, foreign nationals were arrested at twice the rate of British citizens, totaling 131,000 arrests between January and October 2024. Although foreign nationals make up 9% of the population, they accounted for 16.1% of all arrests, according to figures disclosed under Freedom of Information (FOI) laws.
The “crime league” identified 48 nationalities with higher arrest rates per 1,000 population compared to British suspects, with Albanians topping the list, followed by Afghans, Iraqis, Algerians, and Somalis.
