Dhimitër Trajçe (1913-1996) can be confidently called the “Father of Theater” in Korça and a pioneer of its stage. He was a rare figure in the theatrical world, credited with building a professional theater from the ground up. He founded the professional theater of Korça, which was often referred to as Albania’s second film studio.
Trajçe was a versatile actor, excelling in both theater and film. He was not only an actor and director, but also a writer of artistic news and humor. Known for his rebellious spirit, his life and works reflected this trait. His career began before the war, and in its early years, he was already involved in projects that carried his rebellious soul, which eventually led him to join the partisans. Together with others, he helped establish the partisan theater.
In essence, Dhimitër Trajçe was a key figure in shaping Korça’s professional theater and is remembered as a pioneering force in its cultural development.
