The family of the 12-year-old who passed away at a hospital in Tirana due to a cardiac arrest has stated off-camera that the boy was healthy, involved in sports activities, and had no prior health problems.
The parents have accused the doctors, adding that after bringing him to Tirana, the boy was admitted to the COVID ward even though he should have been treated in the intensive care unit. They claim that the boy was not properly treated in the COVID ward, and while they were carrying him to the Pediatrics department, the 12-year-old passed away in their arms.
The parents said: “The boy was healthy, he had no previous health problems, and he was active in sports. At the end of December, he went to the hospital in Korça with flu-like symptoms (vomiting and high fever), and he was treated in the intensive care unit there. Yesterday, we urgently brought him to Tirana, and they admitted him to the COVID ward, but he wasn’t supposed to be there; he needed to be followed in the intensive care unit. He was admitted, and he began to have continuous vomiting. I communicated this to the nurse, and she told me, ‘It’s not possible.’ They didn’t treat him properly. At one point, he clutched his chest, and I took him in my arms to bring him to the Pediatrics emergency room. On the way, he passed away in my arms.”
The family also raised doubts about how a 12-year-old could die from a virus, claiming that the numerous medications increased his blood sugar level.
“What the doctors told us is that he suffered a cardiac arrest. How could a child die from a virus? He didn’t suffer from diabetes or heart problems, but the numerous medications raised his blood sugar level to 200 on the last day. We are deeply shaken and don’t want to take this further. Please respect our grief,” the family declared.
The football club Maliqi also reacted to the death of the 12-year-old. In a post on their official Facebook page, they wrote that Leo was a U-13 football player for Maliqi and expressed their sincere condolences to his family for this great loss.
Here is the post from KF Maliqi:
“Rest in peace, Leo Sadiku.
