The “Fan S. Noli” University had another dignified representation at the Universiade of University Sports, hosted by “Ukshin Hoti” University in Prizren.
The young athletes Sofia Popllo, a student from Preka College and winner of the “Rroke Sportin” 2023 Olympic Games in chess, and Xhoni Dushku, a student at UNIKO, made us proud with their impressive results.
Today, the Federation of University Sports of Kosovo and the Federation of University Sports of Albania organized the Universiade on the occasion of the Flag Day celebration, November 28th, under the theme “Celebrating Together,” hosted by “Ukshin Hoti” University in Prizren.
The Albanian Federation was represented with pride in several sports, including futsal, table tennis, and chess, with participants from the Universities of Tirana, Durrës, and Korça. The matches were highly competitive, showcasing excellent quality and yielding strong results. Our representatives performed admirably, with a special mention for Sofia Popllo, who became the chess champion and secured first place in the women’s category.
The activities began with a solemn meeting at the amphitheater of “Ukshin Hoti” University, featuring greetings from the university’s Rector, Prof. Mentor Alishani, as well as from the Presidents of the University Sports Federations of Kosovo and Albania, Prof. Musa Selimi and Prof. Besnik Veliu, and the President of the Kosovo Chess Federation, Mr. Armend Budima.
At the conclusion of the event, medals and trophies were awarded to the winners. Many notable achievements were highlighted at this Universiade, and participants also praised the “excellence” of the organizers’ hospitality throughout the event.
Once again, the representatives from “Fan S. Noli” University showed great quality and achieved remarkable results, with Xhoni Dushku and Sofia Popllo making us proud with their performances.
