Intensive checks continue to prevent and combat illegal gambling activities, with 5 new cases identified and addressed.
As a result of inspections carried out by the Korçë Police Station in cooperation with the Special Force “Shqiponja,” five establishments involved in illegal gambling activities have been uncovered. Following further investigations:
- L.S., a 52-year-old resident of Korçë, was arrested for the offenses of “Organizing unauthorized lotteries” and “Concealing income.” He was caught placing sports bets using a mobile phone in his unregistered establishment.
- E.Sh., a 39-year-old resident of Korçë, was arrested for “Organizing unauthorized lotteries.” Additionally, E.D., a 37-year-old resident of Korçë, was declared wanted for “Providing premises for illegal gambling,” after it was discovered that E.Sh. was placing sports bets in E.D.’s establishment.
- Six individuals, including two minors, aged between 19 and 58, were charged but remain at large. These individuals, identified as A.K. (19), Xh.A. (31), E.K. (58), K.P. (26), and the two minors, were caught placing bets using mobile phones in three other establishments.
The mobile phones used for these activities were confiscated as evidence.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korçë for further legal action.
