Today, the Mayor of Pustec, Mr. Pali Kolefski, signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation with the Mayors of four municipalities that share the Prespa Lakes Basin. This marks a significant step towards strengthening cross-border collaboration. The Memorandum builds on the foundation laid by the “2022 Mayors’ Cooperation Protocol” and has been signed by the municipalities of Pustec, Prespa, Resen, and Devoll.
The agreement aims to enhance joint efforts towards sustainable development, environmental conservation, and the preservation of cultural heritage within the Prespa Basin. As part of this initiative, the parties have agreed to establish a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), which will serve as a mechanism for deeper and more coordinated collaboration between communities and responsible institutions.
This collective commitment seeks to improve the capacity for sustainable management of natural resources and to promote lasting development in the Prespa Lakes region, a unique natural and cultural treasure.
