The natural grass field at the “Luftëtari” stadium in Gjirokastër was successfully inaugurated today. Before the start of the match between AF Luftëtari and Delvina, a ceremony was held to mark the opening of the new pitch, which was a joint investment by the Football Federation of Albania (FSHF) and the Municipality of Gjirokastër.
The ceremony was attended by FSHF Vice President Arben Dervishaj and the Mayor of Gjirokastër, Flamur Golemi.
In his speech, Vice President Dervishaj emphasized that the investment in the Gjirokastër stadium is a promise fulfilled by the FSHF and its President, Armand Duka. He also mentioned that the Federation is planning to build two additional training fields in the area.
“The investment in the Gjirokastër stadium is a promise kept by the Football Federation of Albania and President Duka. Finally, the Luftëtari team will play their matches on a high-quality pitch, similar to elite stadiums. Meanwhile, further investments will continue in this stadium, including the renovation of the changing rooms and the installation of benches. This is not the only investment by FSHF in this city, as we are working with the Municipality of Gjirokastër on projects to build two more training fields,” said Dervishaj.
The Mayor of Gjirokastër, Flamur Golemi, praised the successful collaboration with FSHF and added that this investment will help improve the quality of football in the city.
The investment in the “Luftëtari” stadium is part of the “100 Fields” project, and future work will focus on renovating the changing rooms and the stadium’s stands.
