For days, we’ve been waiting for a response from this Skënderbe team. Anxiously, we’ve been hoping to see Skënderbe rise as Skënderbe should. But with what we witnessed today, it’s clear: this is no longer Skënderbe.
10 weeks without a victory.
10 weeks of decline, and today’s defeat was the ultimate “postcard” to close out the year, confirming that Skënderbe has major issues. What exactly these problems are, we won’t delve into, but the “train” to the First Division seems to have already departed.
The players are now going on holiday, heading back to their families. For some of them, it would be better if they didn’t return at all. They have disgraced this jersey and disappointed an entire city. Today, the whole of Korçë is grieving. Young and old, anyone who feels Skënderbe in their soul, is mourning.
At the start of the season, everyone dreamed of seeing a great team again, like last year, when we succeeded with young players. But today, even Ernest Gjoka (the coach) couldn’t bring the slightest improvement. The coach himself admits this team has serious problems, but no one knows what will happen next.
The Skënderbe we saw today, and in recent weeks, is a disgrace. This team no longer resembles a true squad. A good portion of these players would do better not to return in January. Whether this is said out of anger or not, time will judge, but today, the red-and-white jersey of Skënderbe was marked by shame.
There are now more than two weeks of break until the new year. Perhaps in early 2025, we’ll see a different Skënderbe. But even then, it’s hard to be optimistic.
Korçë is deeply affected by Skënderbe’s situation, sitting at the bottom of the Superliga. Have we started down the road to relegation? We don’t want to admit it, and it’s painful to even suggest it. However, it’s clear that drastic changes are needed, and there’s no debate about that.
Let’s hope 2025 brings better fortune. But today, Skënderbe has shamed us. If this team hopes to survive the season and avoid relegation, it must transform dramatically.
