Who was Marko Bitraku?
Marko Bitraku was born on January 15, 1951, in Lavdar, Opar, in the Korçë district. After completing his higher education at the Institute of Arts (today the Academy of Arts) in 1974, he began working as a professional actor at the “Andon Zako Çajupi” Theater in Korçë.
On this theater’s stage, he performed dozens of roles that made him well-known to art-loving audiences. Notable performances include his portrayal of Bomarsha in the comedy “The Barber of Seville” by Beaumarchais, and the role of the Thief in the drama “The Fifth Frank” by Dürrenmatt. His final role was Jovan Bregu in the comedy “Jovan Bregu, Refugee” by Adelina Balashi.
In 2008, he directed the monodrama “The White Veil” by Odise Plaku. In cinema, he acted in over 13 roles. His first role was in the television film “Flag in the Waves” in 1977.
Subsequent roles included the Gendarmerie Commander in “The First School” (1979), Selman in “Nothing Is Forgotten” (1985), Rushka in “People in the Current”, Sami in “Dear Enemy” (2004), and more. His final film performance was in “Provincial Chronicle” in 2009.
