The Albanian U-19 Women’s National Team played their third and final match today against Belarus in the first round of the 2025 UEFA European Championship qualifiers for this age group.
The match, held at the “National Arena,” ended in a 1-2 defeat for Albania, coached by Luçije Gjini. The starting lineup included: Spahiu (GK), Allushi, Nika, Hasaj, Vasa, Vata, Methoxha, Ndoj (C), Hysa, Qose, and Ago.
The game began evenly, with both teams creating chances. Albania’s captain, Xhesika Ndoj, had an early opportunity with a long-range shot, but it went wide. Belarus took the lead in the 27th minute after a right-wing attack, with Putsykovich finding space in Albania’s penalty area to score. The remainder of the first half saw balanced play but no additional goals, leaving the score 0-1 at halftime.
The second half was similarly competitive, with Albania pushing for an equalizer but unable to capitalize on their chances. Belarus doubled their lead in the 85th minute. However, Albania responded three minutes later with a brilliant free-kick goal by Rosela Vasa, reducing the deficit to 1-2. Despite the late goal, there wasn’t enough time to equalize, and the match ended in favor of Belarus, who secured first place in Group B1.
Albania finished the tournament in second place in Group B1 and will continue to compete in League B during the second round. The top teams from each group advance directly to League A, while the best second-place team may also earn promotion. Final standings will be determined after all matches are completed.
In the other group match, Montenegro defeated Moldova 5-0 at the “House of Football” stadium.
All first-round matches were successfully hosted in Albania, organized by the Albanian Football Federation. The teams were based in Durrës for the duration of the tournament, with matches taking place at the “National Arena” and the “House of Football.”
