Usyk: I’m not focused on boxing; it’s too soon for another big duel

Date:

After defending his world heavyweight titles, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has begun his vacation.

The future of his career remains unclear, whether he will aim for another unification of the world championship titles or move down a division.
Usyk holds the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles, while the Briton Daniel Dubois is the IBF titleholder.
Dubois has called for a rematch with Usyk (the Ukrainian won their first fight in 2023), but it seems unlikely that this match will happen this year.

“My next step is to continue resting. I’m not thinking about boxing, I’m not thinking about Dubois or Tyson Fury.
I’m just relaxing and spending time playing with my children,” the Ukrainian boxer said in a statement to “Sky Sports.”

A month ago, he won a unanimous decision in his rematch with Fury.

Meanwhile, Alex Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, added: “It’s too early to talk about a rematch between Dubois and Usyk. Don’t forget that Dubois must first face Joseph Parker in February, so it’s pointless to discuss a rematch now.”

Usyk has previously stated that he might return to the cruiserweight division, where he has competed and been a world champion.
“I enjoy motivating people and giving them the drive to achieve something. For me, boxing is my motivation,” said the Ukrainian boxer.
