Fires broke out in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and at least six people were injured following a new Russian drone attack, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
“Two individuals have been hospitalized,” Klitschko announced on Telegram.
He explained that debris from downed drones had fallen on several buildings in two districts of the city.
“Air defense systems were actively engaged,” Klitschko added, urging residents to seek shelter for safety.
He also shared photos showing a tram with shattered windows and damage to the surrounding area caused by drone wreckage.
Russian drone strikes have also targeted other parts of Ukraine since New Year’s Eve.
In the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, residential buildings caught fire overnight following explosions, local authorities reported. A woman was rescued from the scene, but initially, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Ukraine has been resisting a full-scale Russian invasion for nearly three years, with significant support from its Western allies.
