Zyliha Miloti, “Grand Master” (Mjeshtre e Madhe), celebrates her 79th birthday today!

Before turning 14, while in 7th grade, she made her debut as a talented young singer. At the age of 20, she began her career as a comedic actress in the professional ensemble of the city of Shkodër, at the “Migjeni” Theater.
Zyliha Miloti has performed in hundreds of roles throughout her illustrious career. The gallery of characters she created, combined with her vast experience, has made her one of the most distinguished actresses in Albanian comedy. She brought to life characters such as domineering women overpowering their husbands, chatty or spoiled individuals, as well as snobbish ladies, naive highlanders, “burrnesha” (women with traditionally masculine traits), and bureaucratic or intellectual figures of the time.
Her acting style is characterized by fewer grotesque elements and a focus on realistic humor, often mirroring real-life behaviors and models. Unmatched on stage, always respected and modest, Zyliha Miloti is an artist with a rich spiritual world, where humor flows naturally in her performances, deeply rooted in Shkodër’s comedic tradition.
She was a preferred partner of renowned actor Tano Banushi, as well as Zef Deda, with whom she performed many short comedic pieces for the stage, such as The Photographer, In the Hospital, The Brother-in-Law of Comrade Xhemal, Occupied Land, Our Land, and others.
In 2006, she portrayed the character Gjyla in Edmond Mehilli’s play A Simple Story at the “Migjeni” Theater, earning the “Best Actress” award at the Apollon 2006 Acting Festival.
With over half a century dedicated to her artistic career at the Theater of Estrada, she has contributed to more than 250 premiere performances over the years.
